De La Rue finds an easy, cost-effective way to integrate data

De La Rue Cash Systems is a Wisconsin-based manufacturer of currency counters and coin sorters. The company relies on its ERP and customer service software to provide information that is critical to running its business.

Integration challenge

De La Rue’s ERP and customer service applications, which run on different operating systems, could not easily share information without time-consuming, costly file transfers and redundant data entry. Considerable amounts of data, such as part numbers and customer information, had to be re-keyed into both systems, resulting in an expensive duplication of manual effort.

Real-time data integration

Searching for a solution, De La Rue turned to RPG2SQL Integrator to help the company share data between its mission critical applications. The software allows RPG or COBOL programs to read, write, update and delete records in SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL and other PC databases – in real-time. The result is seamless System i and PC data integration.

When information is inputted into the ERP system, RPG2SQL Integrator triggers the supporting database to automatically send that information to the customer service application’s database. Thus, customer, item, cost, serial number and other data on the ERP System’s DB2 database are seamlessly replicated to the UNIX Oracle database, without the need for any human intervention.

Cost reductions and quality control

Automated, real-time data transfer across computing platforms allows De La Rue to save labor and productivity costs, insure the consistency of data across the company’s systems, and improve the overall quality of its data.

Trusted Partner

“We were in such a time crunch,” explained Matt Keever, senior programmer/analyst at De La Rue. “We already had seven or eight other products from RJS that we were happy with, so we decided right away that we were going to go with RPG2SQL—it was a no-brainer. I’ve never had any problems with RJS, so I always start with the solutions they’ve got.”
